How can I straighten my hair?

You probably noticed but I'm a guy. I'm mixed and I have really short curly hair(not long enough to flat iron) and I wanted to know is there any way I could get my hair straight like the guys in this picture http://ets.nydailynews.com/img/2008/08/08/alg_arroyo.jpg I have already tried using wave pomade and it doesn't hold my curls down so any help on how to get my hair straight would be greatly appreciated.
