Okay, if you are a GP then you should know that once someone is brain dead they ARE NOT COMING BACK. Once tests have been done that confirm brain death you can guarantee that the doctors and nurses in the unit are going to do everything they can to get the family to let them pull the tube. Why bother taking up a unit bed with someone who is dead? It is a useless waste. I work between an emergency department and intensive care unit and we don't mess around with situations like that. We suggest organ donation, and tell the family that the truth about the condition of the patient. Then we encourage them to let them go.
